My 1948 Chevy Pickup Street Rod Project

I started with an original truck:

Then we started taking it apart. Here is where the project stands right now (5/15/2011):

Been gathering parts for the project:

I have the turbo-350 transmission back from the transmission shop and so it is ready to go. Going to go with a Ron Francis wiring harness this time. I went to Wheels of Time Street Rod Parts the other day and came back with a bunch of parts. Going to use a Chassis Engineering Mustang II front end and an Explorer rearend. Hope to have it on the road to drive, yes we drive them, to Evansville, Indiana for the Frog Follies. I registered for the 2011 event at the 2010 one where my wife and I were spectators. We had a great time last year.

I know you are going to tell me that the seats (leather power seats from a Lexus) go inside the cab. I know that!

Here is a list of parts I have right now:

Smallblock Chevy

Turbo 350 Transmission

Ron Francis Wiring Harness

GM steering column

Borgeson u-joints, and other steering components

23" tall Lokar floor shifter

engine mounts from Chassis Engineering

Lexus leather seats

master cylinder and brake booster

Well......I am still looking for a desktop support job in the Vicksburg-Jackson, MS area so the project will be at home when and if I get to go to the Frog Follies in a couple of weeks. I have 13 years experience in desktop support and need to put that experience to work somewhere.

I pushed the project truck out of the garage the other day and washed the cobwebs and dirt off of it. Then I pushed it back into the garage. This time I backed it in so it really looks like a project now.

More to come............
